Residents of Vancouver, BC and those visiting the province came out in numbers to hear His Holiness the Dalai Lama speak at UBC’s Chan Centre and the Orpheum Theatre. He was in town to continue the peace dialogue he started in 2006, inviting well-known peace pundits to join him on stage for some laughter and serious conversation. “Let’s take this idea of compassion and translate it into very real and concrete solutions,” said Victor Chan, Dalai Lama Centre trustee, in his introduction. His Holiness the Dalai LamaOfficially called the Vancouver Peace Summit: Nobel Laureates in Dialogue, one to one-and-a-half hour sessions were conducted at UBC’s Chan Centre and the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Vancouver over three days. The theme of peace was divided into four main sessions plus His Holiness’ appearance at “We Day” at GM Place, a gathering of social change activists and musicians. Sessions included:
