Vancouver, BC boasts some amazing restaurant patios with stunning views and unique charm.

The city of Vancouver is known for its beautiful scenery and fresh air. It’s no wonder, then, that it also boasts some of the best patios on the west coast. Restaurants have kept their outdoor spaces primed for the summer weather, as diners head outdoors to eat. Vancouver is full of hidden patios and lively outdoor spaces. See below for our picks.

Brix Restaurant and Wine Bar

1138 Homer Street (604) 915-9463

This Yaletown restaurant has one of the most interesting patios in the city. Walking into the arched entrance, the air feels like the exterior, but the courtyard is actually covered. The roof sits three stories above and is all glass, making the unpredictable Vancouver weather a non-issue for dining outside. During the daytime, it’s a lovely spot to catch a prolonged lunch and in the evenings it turns into a romantic hideaway with a European flare.

Provence Marinaside

1177 Marinaside Crescent (604) 681-4144

This southern France eatery is a delightfully refreshing spot to visit the Mediterranean without the long flight. The outdoor patio overlooks False Creek, with joggers, rollerbladers and bikers strolling down below for a perfectly Vancouver view. Try out the local seafood, raw oyster bar, antipasti showcase and extensive wine list.

Lift Restaurant

333 Menchion Mews (604) 689-5438

Located in Coal Harbour, this fairly new bistro overlooks an unforgettable Vancouver cityscape. Views over Stanley Park, the seawall and the North Shore mountains are some of the best in the city. The upper dining deck is a garden lounge that is both inviting and breathtaking.

Dockside Restaurant & Brewing Company

1253 Johnston, Granville Island (604) 685-7070

This Granville Island mainstay has been welcoming guests to its outstanding patio for years. Within the Granville Island Hotel, one of the largest patios in the city awaits. False Creek, the city skyline and the coastal mountains are all a backdrop to the experience. The summer heat is shaded by sun umbrellas, while the winter months are warmed with overhead gas heaters. The appealing garden flowers add to the outdoor charm.

Crave

3941 Main Street (604) 872-3663

What looks like a small diner from the front, with a few seats outdoors and a lively interior, hides a pleasant private patio. In the back lies a walled in open-air patio, private from the neighbours and away from the busy street. This concealed oasis is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon or settle in for an evening similar to that of being in a friend’s backyard.
