Finding the perfect dessert is easy with delicious cafés, restaurants and bakeries like Lure, Willie's Bakery, Detour Dessert Lounge, Mo:Lé, Aura and the Dutch Bakery.

Chevre Cheesecake at Lure at the Delta Ocean Point and Spa is the Best Cheesecake in Town

A favorite dessert among Victoria locals is the Chevre Cheesecake at Lure at the Ocean Point Hotel and Spa, 45 Songhees Road. Chef Michael Weaver created this recipe from scratch with local, rich goat cheese from Hilary’s Fine Cheese in the Cowichan Valley. It has a hazelnut crust and is topped with a chardonnay gelee and red grape compote – rich and delicious.

Willie's Bakery has Victoria's Best Carrot Cake

Just across the blue bridge on LoJo (lower Johnson Street) is Willie’s Bakery, 537 Johnson Street, is a hot spot for brunch and lunch plus there are many house-made sweets. The carrot cake is a favorite among regulars. It’s rich and packed with fruit, but the best part is the cream cheese icing. Their chocolate cake is also amazingly delicious. It’s huge and big enough to share…almost sinfully!

Worth the Detour for the Most Amazing Dessert Selection

Detour Dessert Lounge, 14 Centennial Square, is a fun little place opposite City Hall that is open late (until midnight) Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There’s often live music and the atmosphere is just right for dessert and coffee or, better yet, a liqueur or a glass of wine. Their apple pie and generous scoop of ice cream is delicious and there are a dozen chocolate desserts to choose from on top of many non-chocolate sweets. “Hilary Hates Cake” is vegan meaning it has no milk, eggs or butter. It is a surprisingly moist, chocolatey cake with peanut butter icing. The Baked Chocolate Love Pot is serious chocolate or try some of the many other cakes such as Fluffy Scruffy coconut cake, Orange Slice or the Whipped Cheese Cake. This is a spot worth visiting for an afternoon snack or an evening out with daily specials.

Best Chocolate Desserts are Found at Mo:Lé

Mo:Lé, 554 Pandora Avenue, has authentic chocolate desserts made right from the bean. Their dessert specials are constantly changing. Anything with their chocolate ganache is out of this world!

Aura at the Inn at Laurel Point has the Most Artistic and Creative Desserts

Aura at the Inn at Laurel Point, 680 Montreal Street along the Inner Harbour, has a new dinner menu with innovative dessert creations which are works of art. The vanilla Crème Brûlée or the chocolate trio with mocha pâté, milk and dark chocolate mousse and ice cream cake are divine. The perfect ending to a fabulous meal!

The Dutch Bakery is a Long Time Favorite in Victoria

For take out or to enjoy in their café, the Dutch Bakery, 718 Fort Street, has a huge selection of sweets and desserts. Their Dollar Rolls, Vanilla Slices and Mocha Cake slices fly off the shelves. Everything at the Dutch Bakery is made from original recipes that have been made by the Shadelee family for over 50 years. This is a sweet spot not to be missed!
