Hiking and Walking for Health

Since the resort is located on 130 acres of private reserve, there are plenty of hiking and walking opportunities. One starting point is the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre. After taking in the wonderful exhibits, head outside and walk along the marked trails through 50 acres of the Great Basin Desert.

The adventurous will keep their eyes open for rattlesnakes, and the smart will have listened to the knowledgeable staff at the cultural centre on how to respond to the usually harmless reptiles.

There is also a walking trail downhill to Osoyoos lake, but remember that you have to walk back up! If you’re visiting in the summer, keep in mind that temperatures average 25-30° Celsius and the dry air makes it feel much hotter- a hat, sunscreen and water are essential.
