Barriere, BC Motels & RestaurantsWhere to Stay, Where to Eat in North Thompson Valley Town
Barriere is a small town in a scenic spot north of Kamloops on the Yellowhead Highway. A good place to stop en route from Vancouver to Jasper National Park.
Cradled in the narrow valley between the Caribou range in the west and the Monashees to the northeast and sited at the confluence of the North Thompson and Barriere Rivers, the small town of Barriere is the first major stop north of Kamloops on the Yellowhead Highway (Hwy 5). Its scenic mountain/river location offers over 400 kilometers of mapped and maintained equestrian trails. From Barriere, it is only a short drive to Wells Gray and Jasper National Parks. Motels and Hotels in Barriere, British ColumbiaBoth Highway 5 and the Canadian National Railroad run through Barriere within blocks of all accommodations, but with the windows closed and the air conditioner on the traveler will find a reasonably quiet night. But why on earth has no one built a lodge on the bank of one of the rivers, away from the highway?
