Not just a mountain for skiing and snowboarding in the winter, Grouse Mountain offers a range of summer activities. Visitors can hike up and paraglide down. If that’s not adrenaline pumping enough, how about taking a helicopter up and zip-lining down. Or for the less adventurous, visitors can take the skyride up and enjoy the various shows and wildlife atop Grouse Mountain. Summer ActivitiesAir Grouse ZiplineA three line adventure circuit propelling you at 50 kilometres per hour high above the alphine rainforest. Screaming Eagle ChairliftThis high speed ski chair lift in winter is open in summer to offer guests a bird’s eye view of the city of Vancouver. Grouse GrindNot for the faint of heart, this 2.9 kilometre hike takes you to the top of Grouse Mountain. A popular fitness regime for locals, the Grind attracts more than 100,000 hikers every year. The Grind can get extremely crowded on weekend and holidays. A few tips for people new to the Grind include:
Lumberjack ShowA cheesy show of two lumberjacks competing against each other in sawing and logging events. This show is 45 minutes and runs three times daily at 12:00 pm, 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Birds in Motion DemonstrationA variety of birds including falcons, eagles, owls, and hawks demonstrate their flying and hunting skills. The show is 30 minutes and runs three times daily at 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. First Flight ParaglidingTandem flights launching from Grouse Mountain and landing in Cleveland Park for an elevation drop of 3,300 ft. Flight time is approximately 15-20 minutes, plus 20 minutes of ground school to explain turning, pitching control and landing techniques. Refuge of Endangered WildlifeThis is a research, education and conservation centre with a habitat for two grizzly bears and three timberwolves. Park rangers give talks at the Refuge four times daily at 10:00 am, 11:30 am, 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Eco-WalksLearn about the different trees, fauna and animals that inhabit the British Columbia region on a 45 minute tour on top of Grouse Mountain. The tour runs four times daily at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm and 4:00pm. How to Get ThereAddress: 6400 Nancy Greene Way, North Vancouver V7R 4K9 Take Georgia Street heading west, through Stanley Park and across Lions Gate Bridge. Follow the North Vancouver exit to Marine Drive, then head north on Capilano Road. Or, from Ironworker’s Memorial Second Narrows Bridge, take Highway 1 heading west and exit at Capital Road North.
