Vancouver is one of the world's most beautiful cities, but it is located in an area prone to rainy days. No need to despair! Many indoor attractions are worth a visit.

Her location on the west coast of Canada surrounded by mountains and several bays and wide river mouths presents Vancouver with one of the most beautiful surroundings a big city has to offer. In summer it is possible to swim on several beaches, and in winter people can ski with a nice view of Vancouver's downtown. It is only a few steps that separate Downtown Vancouver from luscious rain forest north of town and carefully nursed park areas in Stanley Park.

In order to see all this at its best, everybody wishes for sunny weather but that is something which can be rare in Vancouver. When the weather forecast isn't as good as it is wished for, however, there are some good options to make a visit as interesting and exciting as the beautiful surroundings of the city only that you can do them indoors. These tips are here to help with the planning for a rainy day in Vancouver:

Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby

Just a fifteen minutes ride away by SkyTrain from the nice shopping areas in downtown Vancouver, which are connected below ground to keep you dry, there is another mall which waits to be discovered. Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby. If the downtown shopping area is not enough then more than 470 shops, restaurants, cinemas and more can be explored in the mall on Kingsway in Burnaby.

Exotic Flowers and Plants in the Bloedel Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth Park

This park which is located on the highest point of the city in Queen Elizabeth Park is not only worth a visit when the sun is shining. Right behind the viewpoint which offers a spectacular view of downtown Vancouver and the mountains in the backdrop the Bloedel Conservatory contains a tropical paradise below a glass dome. Tropical plants and birds can be viewed perfectly protected from the rain by the glass roof.

Belugas, Orcas and Steller's Sea Lions in the Vancouver Aquarium

If you don't mind crowds - because everyone seems to love this on a rainy day a visit at the Vancouver Aquarium might be interesting. Belugas, orcas and sea lions don't mind where the water is coming from they love it from below and from above and frolic there anyway. Reason enough to come and watch them have fun in the wet.

Get to Know the Native Cultures of the Coastal Rainforest

The Museum of Anthropology of the University of British Columbia has received a new wing and thus offers additional room where visitors can learn more about the culture of the First Nations along the Northwest Coast.

Great Photo Opportunities at the Public Market on Granville Island

If taking photos is one the main goals of the Vancouver stay a visit to the Public Market on Granville Island provides great and very colorful photo opportunities that can be made use of no matter if it's raining or the sun is out. A huge choice of local and exotic fruits, tasty breads and cakes which smell invitingly and colorful flowers make a stroll through the market building as exciting as the interesting mixture of languages from visitors and vendors alike who come from all over the world.

And if the culinary delights of the market are not enough why not finish the day off in one of the local breweries: there are several that offer tours and tasting like the Yaletown Brewing Company, Granville Island Brewing or Steamworks.
