The holiday season on the west coast is a magical time of kids' activities, traditions and festivities all over the city.

Vancouver, BC is full of festive spirit during the Christmas holiday season. Join in the excitement by seeing the Santa Claus parade, Bright Nights in Stanley Park, Carol Ships Parade and the various Christmas-themed theatre shows around the city.

Santa Claus Parade and Carol Ships

Children love the Santa Claus parade. On Sunday November 25, 2007, the Rogers Santa Claus Parade will march downtown Vancouver at 1:00pm. Make sure to stand on Georgia Street between Nicola to Howe Streets. From December 1-23, 2007 the Carol Ships Parade of Lights will be shining at Coal Harbour. View over 80 decorated boats along False Creek and listen to the carols for free on the shore.

Karaoke, VanDusen Botanical Gardens and Canada Place

Take a ride on the Karaoke Christmas Light Trolley Tour from December 8-10 and 15-24, 2007. The Vancouver Trolley Company takes visitors from Canada Place’s Holiday Promenade, through downtown Vancouver to Bright Nights in Stanley Park, and then to VanDusen Botanical Gardens for the Festival of Lights wonderland. Heritage Christmas and the Vancouver Aquarium

Burnaby Village Museum hosts the annual Christmas displays from November 24-January 1, 2007 (closed December 24 & 25). Experience what the holiday season was like in 1925 with historical buildings and costumed volunteers. Call the 24 hour information line at (604) 293-6501. Another unique event is the Vancouver Aquarium’s Here Comes Scuba Claus. From December 15-16 and 22-24, 2007, guests can see Scuba Claus swimming in the Straight of Georgia exhibit. Theatre Shows in Vancouver, BC

Check out Beauty and the Beast at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage from December 6, 2007 – January 6, 2008 and It’s a Wonderful Life at the Granville Island Stage from December 6 – December 29, 2007. The Nutcracker will be performed at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre from December 28-31, 2007 and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will present various holiday concerts from December 8-22, 2007. An even more charming show is Whatever Happened To Santa Baby? A Fantasy Cabaret Benefit for Performing Arts Lodge. Showtime is December 14-16, 2007. Comedy Shows in Vancouver, BC

The Giggle Dam Theatre, located 45 minutes outside of Vancouver in Port Coquitlam, BC, runs Another Freakin’ Hilarious Dam Christmas Show from November 16 – December 29, 2007. Tickets for this dinner theatre show can be purchased at (604) 944-4453. For more laughs, make sure to head to Granville Island for 24: Christmas Eve of Destruction show by Vancouver Theatre Sports League. Always a hit, improvisers take comedy to new heights starting November 7, 2007. Tickets are available at the New Revue Stage Box Office 1 hour prior to the 7:30pm or 8:00pm shows or can be purchased in advance by calling Ticketmaster at (604) 280-4444.
